ERIK'S DIRTY 30

Some of you may already know that Erik and I met in Las Vegas on May 1, 2014 when I was in town for my 30th birthday. Fast forward to Erik's 30th birthday earlier this month, and we've been together for about 3 and a half years...so I really wanted to make this birthday extra special. Thankfully our friends and families helped to make it an epic weekend that we will never forget.

We started out big with a quick and easy ride on a private jet to Los Angeles from our friends at JetSmarter. It doesn't get more convenient than being dropped off at the airport and walking right on to the plane within minutes. No lines, no security...what a pleasure!

Upon landing in LA we had to rush over to The Microsoft Theater to meet up with Erik's cousins and surprise him with tickets to Kings of the West, featuring Snoop Dogg, Ice Cube and Cypress Hill....some of his favorite rappers! Thankfully our friends at Lexus had an amazing sports car waiting for us. The Lexus RC F is one of the nicest cars I've ever driven. From the technology package to its 467 horsepower 5.0 liter V8, we had so much fun riding around town in it...and it definitely got us to the show on time!

Snoop had stripper poles brought out on stage so that he could have scantily-clad strippers working them throughout his performance. It was amazing to see so many artists that I grew up with take that stage and still blow it up. The crowd was on fire!!! Naturally when it was over we went to King Taco for tacos, sopes and horchata. If you live in LA or are planning a trip...GO! It's cheap, BOMB and they have locations all over the city. STRONGLY RECOMMEND the al pastor and asada tacos with a chicken sope and a horchata. You're welcome ;)

Did I mention how tired we were? It was 1am by the time we finally made it to our hotel and I couldn't have been happier with our choice! Sitting on top of La Cienega in the heart of the Sunset Strip, The Jeremy Hotel is a beautiful modern oasis. The decor and art installations are only outdone by the impeccable level of service. Within 15 minutes of walking through the front door we were checked in and laying on our cloud-like bed eating ice cream and fresh cookies. It was magical!!

Our favorite part of staying in a nice hotel is room service! We rejuvenated ourselves with vanilla cappuccinos and parfaits topped with fresh fruit, before making our long-awaited journey to The Broad Museum. It really was breathtaking; see Erik's shots here! Make sure to reserve your tickets in advance to avoid massive lines. If you can't get reserved tickets, show up early as their installations are really worth the wait!

We spent the rest of the day frolicking through downtown LA with a few close friends, eating homemade enchiladas at Erik's mom's house and a lot of laying down in the hotel room before heading to a fabulous birthday dinner. One of our favorites Joyce (AKA @goldenladyla) rolled out the red carpet for us, scoring a FABULOUS table at Catch LA! I wish we could have brought a camera in there, the decor and food were uh-may-zing!!! If you can get a reservation, it definitely meets the hype. Our server took the time to break down the menu for us while making bomb recommendations. We will definitely be back for seconds.

From dinner we made the short walk around the corner to The Chappel, where our friends and family all chipped in to get Erik a massive table...complete with gogo dancers flailing around in bikini bottoms on poles. So basically it was the perfect setting for a wild night out! They even brought out a birthday cake for Erik, thank you to the whole team at The Chappel, for going above and beyond to make our night special.

Needless to say the next day we were going a little slower than usual...but nothing was going to stop us from spending time with Erik's family and eating homemade pupusas. Oh my god, they were spectacular and brought us completely back to life! With our second wind in full effect we grabbed his cousin Joanna and drove to the last event of Erik's Dirty 30....a Lakers game! Erik loves his Lakers, so it was a perfect way to close out his birthday, but the night didn't end there. We were starving afterwards so we walked across the street to LA Live to partake in some glorious Katsuya and take in all the Christmassy goodness that envelopes the entertainment complex during the holidays.

The trip was perfect and Erik had the best time! Thank you again to everyone who came out and helped make this birthday extra for my favorite person. Happy birthday again babe xx
